Mr. Croc Steve Irwin

I heard about his accidental death on the news yesterday...Its sad. I liked him and he was exteremely fun to watch . I'm no animal lover (unless those animals are good with onions and green peppers haha) but the guy's show was entertaining (not sure about the one where he brought his 1mth old son along though...). Why? because he was ENTHU (thats short form for enthusiastic internet newbies hehe) he was so happy and excited to be playing with the animals (making famous the cause of preserving wildlife). He was passionate. Those kind of people are always fun to be around, and those people make a differnce somewhere somehow! Too many people settling for being too average...Thats another reason i write about passionate people here. Its not easy to be educator and entertainer at the same time but i think Steve dia good job of that!

He's so popular that on MSN messenger many people are using a "turtle" picture in rememberance of him (turtle-->reptile-->croc-->crocodile hunter-->Steve Irwin... get the connection?). pretty cool:)

Back to blogging! thanks for waiting

Sorry for no updates over the past few days... internet was not avialable (or should is say very unreliable) at the hotel where i was. It was a company retreat with the people I work with. at TOUCH Community Services. Its great to have a chance to meet the other people in this organisation because... as is common in many places, we are too busy durign the regular work times. They really are an awesome bunch of people who really are passioante about serving the community both in in Singapore and in other countries as well.

But even more that that, when i brushed my teeth on the first evening I was brought back to the last time I was here at this hotel (Sofitel Hotel, Johore, Malaysia). It was another camp last year when my roommate was my buddy alvin. He was a dentist and the one thing i remember him doing was scolding me for rushing through my tooth brushing routine.

"So fast?! thats terrible!...Its about how long the tooth paste stays in your mouth, not how much scrubbing you do with the toothbrush"

he said. Haha thats me rusing things agian...thinking that a few seconds of high intensity scrubbing would do the job. But it does make sense you know, when i leave the toothpaste foam in my mouth for a few minutes there is this differnt feeling on the teeth. Been doing that more since that scolding!

Alvin was an awesome guy. Great character and a heart of service and selfless care for others. Those kind are few and faaaaaaar between. He is also no longer with us...he passed away from a heart condition early in 2006 at the age of 26. Just as i blogged about his passing here. I write this post as i remember him and thank God that there are such "intentional" heros around who live life without any regrets.

In awesome memory of my buddy Alvin,
