5 things I would NOT get my loved ones for christmas

Christmas is a great time for gift giving. But lets be smart about it! Show someone you care, don't give them things that will make them discouraged and upset.

1. Vibrating slimming machines. These come in many forms and are pretty much... there is no kind word...scams (I refrain from naming individual companies and products you know who you are!). There are those that wrap around your tummy like a belt and jiggle your abdominal fats...there are those that you sit on and jiggle your butt... there are those you stand on that jiggle your entire body. Uh...many of them are just excuses to put pretty girls in advertisements. Be assured, the purchasers of these machines just wasted a thousand bucks. Please don't let it be you!

2. Quick fix diet packages. An example is a liquid diet named after a british city starting with cam and ending with bridge. These are full of low quality protein and super low calories. You end up with huge amounts of muscle loss and eventual regaining of the weight. There are some fundamentals that all successful eating plans have. Super low calories is NOT one of them.

3. Sessions with the average personal trainer. There are great coaches and trainers out there, but you probably won't get one by "signing up" for the package at a commercial gym. Do a bit of research on your own so that you can smell a fraud (more common than you might imagine in this "profession") before you pay up.

4. Most nutritional supplements. Seriously. There aren't that many great ones. Besides Protein, fish oil, Creatine and BCAAs most are pretty much experimental and arent as good as fruits and vegetables. Advterising... isnt it scary!

5. Exercise material made by models or TV stars. Really. Do you ask a movie star to fix your car? How about your vehicle that will never be traded in, upgraded or replaced (your body). Nope, didn't think so!
