Usher in the new year... Helping my family

Its Chinese new year, a time for meeting up with family (good) and excessive eating of fried and trans-fat laden goodies (bad). But what was amazing is the number of hours (3-4) of free consultation I gave to family members for various health issues. Let's list them down:

1. Nagging and occasional frozen shoulder (supaspinatus and subscapularis trigger points) - Free massage aunt!

2. Front shoulder numbness (infaspinatus trigger points) - Free massage cousin and get yourself a tennis ball for self-treatment

3. Achilles Tendon Pain (Gastroc and soleus adhesions and trigger points) - Here uncle, try my foam roller

4. Lumbar spine instability from previous herniated disc. - Increased glute activation and bracing techniques should help you play basketball at full speed soon cousin.

5. Here is the rehab progression for your patella tendinitis cousin - AND STOP ALL THAT JOGGING!

My extended family are NOT super unhealthy. They do exercise. They are successful, disciplined people who are socially alright, financially alright and generally doing alright in life. But none of us should consider chronic pain or poor health as "alright".

It's one of my motivations for giving fitness coaching. I love working with athletes to make them great, but there is also a thrill of fixing peoples health issues that have been lingering for months/years. Thats why I started Genesis Health and Performance.
