Reflections on 2006
End of the year again. At the start, we all have plans and at the end we have reflections on whether those came to pass or did not. Certainly some things won't turn out as planned but thats just food for thought and gives us things we can improve on.This is true in terms of physical training (of course its true for friendships, marriages, spiritual growth, etc). But for this blog, I'll talk about physical progress. Whether I'm a coach, athlete, housewife, or even a person recovering from a life threatening disease, I want to end 2006 better than when i started it.
Things that went well:
- Recovery from knee pain (80% done) - more progress in the past month than in the last 2 years this is something I'm really thankful for.
- 40 yard dash (4.5 sec) - did it! Practiced inproved start and running techinque
- Broad jump 298cm - close to the goal of 300, and I know where to improve
- Knowledge as a coach - handling chronic pain, joint mobility, posture, more of the "supplementary" kind of knowledge to become more well rounded as a perfromance improvement guy.
- Got my Specialist In Sport Conditioning certification
- Velocity diet - leanest time ever in my life!
- Lifts - did not progress much (sq close stance, all the way down - 200kg, deadlift 215kg, bench press 140kg) other lifts are pretty stagnant as well. There were too many other goals, as well as lots of work (I do work!)
- Remaining physical issues - Tighiness in right side of body (from years of softball bat swingning in one direction only), slight knee issues, slight tightness in upper back and neck. All these are being worked on.
- Velocity diet - not good for performance
- 100m dash in 11 sec - this is the key one, all training will be geared toward this
- 300cm broad jump - i think if I get the first one, I'll get this one along with it
- Improve as a coach especially in terms of business strategy and in the area of pain relief and injury prevention/rehab
