New toys. MMA
One of the categories of athlets i respect very much are mixed martial artists (MMA). I think they are some of the toughest and best conditioned guys in the world. MMA is MUCH more fun to watch than any other combat sport because these guys are super skillful. They know how to punch and kick. They know how to wrestle and apply submission moves. this isnt WWE!
I liked Bas Rutten (left) before he retired and became a commentator. I think currently Mirko CroCop (what a cool name) and Fedor Emelianenko are really good tough all rounded fighters. In the ligher categories I like watching Georges St.Pierre from canada.(right)
I did recently order a pair of open handed gloves (so u can still grab stuff) to play (uh... that means hit) with my slamman. I go for several 2min rounds. I would like a heavy bag (cheaper and can get differnt weights) but this country's gyms dont have any, and there is no place to hang one in my home.
If you get a chance to youtube or find a vid of these guys training you will see why they are mostly very lean (especially in the light weight classes). The anerobic work they do is incrediblity tough and puke inspiring:). Thats why I use similar stuff for myself. I don't think I'll ever be joining the Ultimate Fighting championship. but an example of a MMA guy's possible conditioning training circuit is given below. Of other athletes and guys who want to look pretty while having exceptional strength endurance... you can try stuff like this also.
- Sprints gradient about 8-12% and speed about 13kmh for 15 seconds (you can replace them with burpees, high speed jump rope (that one need to do for longer maybe 30-60 sec) so treadmills are a good idea, so are stairs and hills
- No rest at all till all of this is done (yes... be ready to suffer... its painful hehe)
- Use light weights, this isnt a maximal effort session and by the end, light weights will be causing you much discomfort because you will be struggling to breathe hehe
(Sprints, clean high pulls x 5 reps) x 2 sets
(Sprints, dips x 10 reps, bench press x 10 reps) x 2 sets
(Sprints, chinups x 10 reps) x 2 sets
It will take only about 12 mins to finish. But ladies and gentlemen... you have just used the treadmill in the correct way!:) and you will have fat melting off you for the next few hours. yay!
